A Behaviour Resource for Parents and Teachers....

Every teacher knows that a big part of the job is to redirect student's behaviour. Classroom managment is paramount to teaching.

What is classroom managment? It is the ability to lead the class in work. It is crowd control. It is leadership.

There are some cardinal rules to classroom management:

1) Never make a threat you won't carry through.

2) Follow up, follow up, follow up.

3) Don't blur the lines between teacher and student.

4) Create routines and maintain them.

5) Model the behaviour you want to see.

6) Motivate your students through your own interest in the lessons.

7) Create humour in the classroom.

8) Reward good behaviour.

But what do you do when you encounter lying, rudeness, profanity, stealing, defiance and bullying after you have built the classroom that works for the majority of your students?

It's an easy question to ask and not an easy one to answer.
